Gorilla
Carved in american black walnut.
The wood came from a tree growing in a park in Mouvaux, northern France. The piece must have been part of a branch break. The grain of the wood had a nice curve, which inspired me to make a gorilla out of it, as it matched the curve of his back. There was quite a lot of tension wood and some cracks, which made the carving a little tricky in some places. I was able to remove some of the cracks, but deeper ones remained.
Finish: Danish oil
Height 24cm / Length 23cm
